We wrapped up work on Friday. We got more done than we could ever have imagined. Everyone worked very hard and we are all very tired. We were able to get all 15 bunk beds finished and actually completed 22 of the 30 drawers that go under the beds. We were very thanksful for Don Snow and his knowledge that got us to this point. We also that God for strength and stamina to accomplish what we did.

The Bunk Bed Challenge
Part of the challenge in making the bunk beds this year is that instead of making 11 units (tops & bottoms) we need ot make 15! Not only that but we have about half the people this year. Thankfully we have made several improvements in our techniques to make things go faster. We were able to make 11 units in 3 days this year! Today we plan to finish the last 4 units and then start the drawers that wil lgo underneath the beds. It is wonderful what we are able to do when we rely on Gods strength and not our own. The team devotional today expresses this very well, read Ephesians 3 14-21 if you want to see what I mean.

Karen Snyder
Karen Snyder was truely a God thing for our team! She had independently schedule a one person trip to the Childrens Home here in Guatemala for August 4th - 12th. About two weeks before our trip she discovered that a tewam from Red Lion was coming down from the 2nd-11th. Since she just lives down the road in Dallastown it is quite a miraculous coincidence that we would both be headed to the same place nearly with the same dates. She was able to change her flights and join our team! She has realy been a blessing to us since she is a Spanish teacher she is fluent in Spanish and not only that but the things that she is here to do finish early enough that she is able to help the rest of the team build beds.

And then it rained!
On Monday afternoon we had a huge rainstorm. It rained about 1.5 inches in about 30 minutes. with all the buildings and pavement on the property there wasn't much room for it to go so it puddled up near the shop where we work in a covered outdoor area. I told the team to forget the beds and lets build an ark
Nancy in a race with the water!

Mega Frater
New Church - Mega Frater
On Sunday we got ot go to the new church called Mega Frater. They have been in the process of building it for several years. The Children's Home started attending this church several years ago and they have a great relationship with them as the church does many great things for the Home. The original Frater church was about an hour away and this newe one is only 30 minutes away.

And the work begins
Flour Fight!
Ready to leave
Of course the internet is down!
Figures! We think everytime we are here that we have created a solution for the internet for us but it seems like everytime we come back something else goes wrong. I'm sitting in the teachers lounge of the school building in a swarm of mosquitoes as I type this. We will post more blogs later today and in the days to come as we have now found a way to get online.
Thanks for you patience!

Flying to Guatemala Today
Hi Everyone! Thanks for checking out our Blog! We are sitting in the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina on a 3 hour layover before our final flight into Guatemala. There are ten of us on this trip, Larry Hinkle, Jeff Poff, Lana & Willie Henry, Sara Grove, Don and Nancy Snow, Karen Snyder, Val Ludwig and myself. We are very excited to get to Guatemala and start our work. On this trip we will be building 15 bunk beds (30 beds) for the boys dorms at the children's home. We were blessed enough last year to build the bunk beds for the girls dorm as well. Thank you all for your prayers and support!
